Safety & Tips

Know Before You Go:

Staying safe on the water is the best way to ensure your day at Gyro Beach is a success. Here is what you need to know before you head out:

  • Life Jackets are Mandatory: Every rental includes a Canadian Coast Guard-approved PFD (Personal Flotation Device). It must be worn at all times while on the water—no exceptions.
  • Weather Awareness: Lake Osoyoos can get breezy. If you see whitecaps or if our staff signals a "high wind" warning, we may pause rentals or ask you to stay close to the shore.
  • Stay Hydrated & Sun-Safe: The Okanagan sun is intense. We recommend bringing water, applying SPF 30+ sunscreen, and wearing a hat.
  • Age Requirements: Renters must be 18+ to sign the waiver. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult on the water.
  • Alcohol Policy: Operating watercraft under the influence is illegal and dangerous. We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy for alcohol or drugs.
  • Respect the Boundaries: Please stay clear of the marked swimming areas and be mindful of motorized boats. They have a larger wake and less maneuverability than you do!
